A bad idea is terrible: Stripping 2022 World Cup Bid from Qatar

Here is my limited outline concerning content for my "bad idea is terrible" argument concerning the controversies surrounding the 2022 Qatar World Cup and the calls for relocation amid accusations of worker abuse, financial detriment, and corruption scandals. The form of my essay is still in question as I do not know how I will specifically structure the abundance of information, but this is the essential chronology and approach that I will maintain regarding content.

Overview.
Introduction
Body: Explain controversies.

Opening Segment

  • Three hundred million people: the population of the United States of America. Also, the estimated number of active soccer players in the world. The unmatched popularity of the sport yields bountiful riches for many and ignites a fiery passion in many more. The magnitude of an entity like this can impact lives and nations, for better or for worse. On December 2nd, 2010, Sepp Blatter, President of the global juggernaut that is FIFA (International Federation of Association Football), awarded the privilege to host the 2022 World Cup to the 158th largest nation in the world, Qatar, and the soccer world was set ablaze. Accusations swirled, controversies erupted, and calls for action followed. The previously stated fiery passion and unparalleled global magnitude of the sports culminate for an unprecedented and sometimes unreasonable time in futbol history. The 3.4 billion people across the globe captivated by the quadrennial sports phenomenon that is the FIFA World Cup now watch as the most controversial period in futbol history unfolds.

  1. Hey Rashaan, I am very intrigued by your content outline. I just would just like to make some suggestions on what you could do for some counterarguments that you could include in your outline. You could mention that people are against Qatar because they could have won the bid unfairly and also some other countries, like US or Australia, could be more equipped to host the World Cup by then. Also, the heat will be more bearable in other countries by 2022 than in Qatar.

    Good luck!
